In the reconstruction of defects or repair of traumatic lacerations, Dr. Cabin brings to bear years of extensive cosmetic and reconstructive experience to restore harmony to the face. The goal balance, symmetry and optimized healing, with minimal evidence – with even the closest inspection - of any injury or surgery.
MOHS surgery refers to the step-wise removal of certain skin cancer lesions in cosmetically sensitive areas. A MOHS-trained dermatologist will sequentially remove microscopic slivers of skin, examining each under a microscope until the skin is cleared of all abnormal cells.
Patients who undergo MOHS surgery are frequency left with skin defects in areas that are visually obvious and/or functionally critical. Dr. Cabin is called upon by MOHS dermatologists throughout the Los Angeles area to use complex reconstructive techniques to repair these areas.
Various forms of trauma can result in lacerations, or cuts, that require stitches to be placed. Because the body begins to heal quickly, for optimal healing there is a small time window for surgical repair. As such, many patients end up in the emergency room, only to wait for hours to have stitches places by a general emergency room doctor with no specialized surgical training.
Dr. Cabin provides a 24-hour laceration repair service, in the office and in patient’s homes, that allows patients to avoid the inconvenient and time-consuming trip to the emergency room. As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Cabin provides meticulous closure of incisions, minimizing scarring and maximizing cosmetic result. By using small, carefully placed stitches in a multi-layer closure, Dr. Cabin can turn even a large injury into a nearly invisible, long-term result.
Dr. Cabin believes that post-surgical care is paramount to ideal healing. Included in this service are detailed post-care instructions, along with all materials needed, such as antibiotic prescriptions, specialized ointments, cleansing solution and bandages. Dr. Cabin also sees every patient at each follow up, removing sutures and examining the wounds to ensure optimal healing.
