Botox® Aftercare
Botox® is most commonly used to reduce the appearance of the wrinkles of facial expression, and can also be used to target migraines, excessive sweating and TMJ pain. Botox® is incredibly effective and has zero downtime; however, there are some Botox aftercare details to note.
The one post-Botox® limitation is the avoidance of strenuous activity on the day of ® treatment. Other than this single limitation, you can normally go about your day, and go back to work if you choose.
Aesthetically, you may notice tiny red dots or bumps at the injection sites immediately after treatment, but they should fade in less than 20 minutes. Botox® doesn’t work right away, and only fully kicks in in one-to-two weeks. Before the Botox® fully activates, you may notice some unevenness in your face. If this happens, this generally goes away by the two week mark.
Because a needle is involved in Botox® treatments, and there are small, invisible blood vessels in the skin, there is a small risk of bruising. Dr. Cabin minimizes the risk of bruising by using a strict pre-Botox® icing protocol and a meticulous injection technique. If a bruise does occur, it is usually about the size of a standard pencil eraser, can be easily covered up and will go away within a week. Microneedling with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Aftercare
Microneedling with PRP rejuvenates your skin, leaving you glowing, rested and youthful. This fast and comfortable procedure helps reduce wrinkling, fine lines, acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation. After any microneedling with PRP treatment, Dr. Cabin requests a very simple aftercare protocol to ensure the best recovery and results.
Make sure to wait at least 5 hours to wash your face, and use a mild cleanser and luke-warm water when you do. Avoid using retinol, and be extra vigilant when it comes to protecting your skin from the sun as it is particularly sensitive for up to two weeks.
Your skin will have some redness, scaling and swelling for at least 24 hours, and up to a week after the treatment. During this time, its best not to use any makeup except a medical grade concealer, which can be used immediately after treatment. Filler Aftercare
Injectable filler can be used to add volume to targeted areas of the face, smooth out wrinkles, and subtly harmonize the face for a more balanced appearance. Fillers can be used within the lips, temples, cheeks, jaw, chin, around the mouth and under the eyes, and can also be used to change the appearance of the nose. Filler treatment is well-tolerated, with relatively little to no downtime. However, there are some aspects of filler aftercare that lead to the best recovery and results.
To reduce any bruising and/or swelling, you should try to ice the treatment area as frequently as possible in the first 24-48 hours. You may also choose to sleep with an extra pillow to reduce morning swelling, and avoid strenuous activity for the first 48 hours, also to reduce post-exercise swelling.
Immediately after filler treatment you may notice some slight irritation at the injection site, but expect it to go away in the first day or so. You also may notice some swelling, bruising, or unevenness in your facial symmetry, which generally fades away in around a week. If you notice more serious side effects, contact the office immediately.
